You will find a variety of activities in this guide, which include answering scenario-based questions about an article in the magazine, applying facts learned from an article to developing an app, or developing an agriculture-based plan for an urban school. All activities are aligned to the educational standards (see each activity to see the specific standards).

In this guide, You will find several activities that accompany articles from the Fall 2017 issue of FFA New Horizons. Answer keys to appropriate worksheets can be found at the end of the guide. All activities are aligned to the educational standards (see each activity to see the specific standards).

Summer 2017

Activities are outlined in the following sections: discover, recognize, experience and apply. The activities are aligned to common core-english standards; agriculture, food and natural resources national content standards; life knowledge connections; and career pathways.

Winter 2016

The curriculum includes discussion questions for four articles, an “interview a local farmer” activity and a brainstorm lesson on community involvement.

Spring 2017

Activities include a fill-in-the-blanks quizzes related to articles about drone technology, alumnus Cory Flournoy and resume writing. Plus  vocabulary words found in the commodities article in the magazine.

Fall 2016

The curriculum includes reading-response worksheets for four articles, a quick research project into agritourism farms in your area, and a vocabulary lesson.

Summer 2016

The curriculum includes a college research project, a group exercise to develop a new agriculture product, and a vocabulary review using words found in the magazine.

Spring 2016

The curriculum includes a brainstorming project to dream up community service ideas, an interactive activity to develop students’ own ice cream flavors, and a crossword puzzle about meat goats.

Winter 2015

Activities include a crossword puzzle about bees, a fill-in-the-blanks quiz related to an article about U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, and vocabulary words found in the magazine.

Fall 2015
